We are extremely fortunate in having an enthusiastic and hard working staff, as follows:
Mrs Lou Coulthard - Head of School
Lou Coulthard took over as Head of School in June 2017, after working as Associate Head at the school since January 2014. Lou originally joined us in September 2006 as a Class Teacher, and has played a key role in the development of our 'creative curriculum' over the past eleven years. Lou is passionate about 'opportuinity for all' and together with the Rutland Learning Trust, is committed to striving for excellence at Glapthorn CE Primary.
Mr Tom Ormston joined us in September 2017 and teaches Years Five and Six in Red Kites class. Tom is an enthusiastic and creative teacher, inspiring the children in their learning and preparing them well for the next phase of their development.
Mrs Wendy Edwards joined us as a full-time Class teacher in September 2017. Wendy is a very experienced teacher and maths specialist and we are delighted to have her expertise at Glapthorn. Wendy teaches Years Three and Four in Nightingales class and creates a stimulating and engaging environment for all the children to achieve their full potential.
Miss Debbie Vickers is an extremely experienced KS1 teacher, teaching Years One and Two in Barn Owls class four days a week. She joined us in September 2014 from Cheshire and creates a calm, happy oasis for all the children to learn.
Mrs Zoe Taggart joined the team in September 2014 and works as our part-time Reception teacher in Robins class. Zoe is an experienced Reception teacher and brings great enthusiasm to her role. She does a brilliant job at helping the children (and parents) settle into life at Glapthorn School.
Miss Louise Gregory teaches in Robins class on Mondays and Tuesdays, job sharing with Mrs Taggart. Louise also works in school on Wednesdays, and is our Inclusion Co-ordinator, leading on Special Needs. Louise began her teaching career at Glapthorn in September 2010 after completing her BA in Primary Education at the University of Bedford. She is an excellent teacher and communicator and has wonderful rapport with the children.
Mrs Joanna Sawyer has been working as our School Adminstrator and Bursar since January 2004. She provides wisdom and support for the children, parents and staff - especially for the Headteacher!
The high ratio of support staff to children means we can support all the children fully, ensuring children receive the help they need.
